Access Development Service

About

ACCESS

ACCESS has been promoted by CARE India as a not-for-profit company for offering specialised technical assistance in the areas of microfinance and livelihood promotion. The initial mission of ACCESS was to incubate and build the capacities of fledgling microfinance institutions in India and meet the demand for financial services from the poor. But it soon became clear that improving the condition of the poor required a more comprehensive approach.

As a consequence, besides expanding its programming strategies within the ambit of microfinance, ACCESS has also developed a strong portfolio under its Livelihoods Programme Unit, transitioning from a narrow microfinance resource agency to a much more diversified field of programming competences. This cluster development initiative in Ganjam- Gajapati Districts is a flagship programme of ACCESS to work with more than 300 micro & small enterprises in two sub sectors – Cashew Processing & Kewda distillation which has a huge future potential. ACCESS is privileged to be associated with the DFID-SIDBI MSME initiative and is committed to its successful implementation. Quality implementation of this programme will contribute significantly towards informing and influencing other similar initiatives in the country and replication of this model. Given the ACCESS experiences of working in value chains, I am confident that ACCESS will contribute and bring new insights into linking MSMEs with markets. I wish the team best wishes on the programme launch.
